Car history:
I have driven this car and I am pretty familiar with it. Here's the just of it. My friend has owned this car about 2 years. When he bought it the previous owner had just then driven the car to a local Corvette specialist to trade it in on a 67. He had just previously rebuilt the engine and tranny and was therefore confident of making that trip from New York to Ohio. My friend just happened to see the car right after it's arrival and made a deal with the dealer on the spot before the car was cleaned up or anything. He was also confident it was a good car. Upon further inspection by several specialists it does appear the engine and tranny are fresh, represented as having about 3000 miles on them. It is seemingly the numbers matching original engine, please see the photos supplied. But the car did need some further sorting out. Primarily the gas tank was full of crud and was contaminating the fuel system. That has been rectified as well as many further improvements. In the last 2 years these items have been replaced:
-gas tank and fuel pick up
-carb, set up by "Corvette Richard"
-fuel pump
-starter
-alum. radiator
-radiator fans mechanical and electric
-tires
-brakes calipers,rotors,hoses
-brake booster
-rebuilt dist w'new tach drive
-shifter cable
-wires,plugs
-p.s.pump
-mufflers
-motor mounts
-professional alignment "Grillios"
-few things he's probably forgotten
This car is now truely well sorted and drives strong! No ill manners, steers and stops straight, etc. Tranny shifts as it should, engine pulls hard. I had fun driving it but as a general rule I don't flog cars abusively (especially someone else's) so I can't say how big a burn out it might do per se. But I have driven a lot of different cars, I've been a "car head" for over 36 years, and this one can definitely "get it" and still go around a corner. It is a Corvette after all! Mechanically this car is ready to enjoy for a long time. The body is all original with all the factory seams in and out. It has been repainted in its original code 972 Can-Am White. There is evidence of minor passenger front fender repair, I tried to show it in the photos. It's not all that discernable but upon close scrutiny you can see some tell-tale marks( sand scratch mostly). There are also a few other typical minor "stress" blemishes in the body, but overall it is a good straight car. The paint job is not particularly stellar, I'd call it good "driver" quality. Definitely not a color sanded show job. Good gloss but not the best prep. Fiberglass Corvette bodies are pretty difficult to make perfect. I don't mean to come off too negative here, this is a good looking car, just don't expect a high caliber show winner.
Chrome is all good. Glass is very good. Rear glass is removable (somewhat rare option). T Tops have their storage bags. AND THE BEST FOR LAST! The interior is killer. One of the nicest uncracked, non warped dashes I've seen. T Tops are in great shape. Seats are in great shape. Door panels are new (old ones included) as well as the carpet. New steering wheel (old one included). Really a very nice place to settle into, far above average condition. Frame is rock solid, recently cleaned and Ziebarted. No rust issues. Colors from the trim plate. 13,000 miles. February 24, 2008.
